Mary (Yoo Jin) Um was born in 1995 in Seoul Clinic in Seocho, Seoul City in southern Korea. She is the middle child out of three, with two brothers. At nine, she moved to Fullerton, California, for 2.5 years where her dad worked at UCLA as an exchange professor. She then went back to Korea for 3 years and after that, moved to Kent,Connecticut, to go to a boarding school named Kent. She graduated high school this June, and is planning to study sociology in UC Berkeley. She wrote “Let It Go” to settle little pieces of memories from high school. She not only has a hobby of writing personal essays, but also enjoys playing basketball, soccer, and golf, and loves singing.
