Applewhite Minyard lives in Southern California in the Palm Springs area and teaches English at College of the Desert.
He attended schools in Kentucky and Ohio and has taught community college classes in several states as well as teaching Japanese students for more than three years in Japan. He published a textbook on science fiction in 1998 (Decades of Science Fiction), which examines the evolution of science fiction and the historical context in which it developed. Minyard worked for a number of years in journalism, writing articles and taking photographs for daily and monthly publications and then serving as editor of community college publications. He has also had several short stories and critical essays published, including several on science fiction writer Edgar Rice Burroughs.---------
