JacksonPetschebio Jackson Petsche is a PhD student of English at Syracuse University. His areas of interest include Marxism and Marxist theory, animal studies/theories of animal liberation, Victorian literature and culture, aesthetics, and critical theory. His essay dealing with the postmodern aesthetic, “The Importance of Being Autonomous: Toward a Marxist Defense of Art for Art’s Sake,” won the Marxist Literary Group’s 2010 Michael Sprinker Essay Contest and will eventually be published in their journal Mediations. He is currently at work on a project involving Marxism and animal rights/animal studies.
