MegTuite I have to say 2012 has blasted forth with an unparalleled group of writers! The winds are whacked out here in the desert, as is the prose. Hope you enjoy these amazing stories and the entertaining interview I had with the extraordinary, Gregory Sherl. I thank you all so much for sending Connotation Press some of your brilliance!

Just wanted to add a note that I will only be interviewing the featured writers in 2012. I’m able to get more in-depth and spend more time with these writers. I hope you enjoy the interviews.

Gregory Sherl is our featured fiction writer for this mid-January issue of Connotation Press. In these three sublime micro-fiction worlds he has created, “Things to Do When You Need Things To Do, Part I,” “Facts, Part 2” and “Brand New Music,” I am mesmerized by the stark intimacy, vulnerability and humor in his work.

Alex M. Pruteanu delivers two memorable, superlative fiction pieces, “Two Sides of One Half” and “De Aardappeleters.” Powerful and relevant.

Joe Kapitan brings us to “Lauderdale.” A parallel universe of desire and suppression in his blurred line between what not to do and the rampant hormones of a teenager.

Colin R. James drops us into the world of a hit man in “Working Stiff.” The exceptional quotidian existence of just another day in the life of a man on the job.

Gary Hardaway gives us two brilliant, futuristic flash pieces in “Hermit” and “The Ungrateful Dead and the Human Resource Recovery and Refineries Act.”

Alec Bryan delivers this masterful, painstaking account of one man’s superhero sleep and dream experiment in, “The Art of Counting Sheep.” You may never sleep with more than three pillows again.
