This drink came to me while eating breakfast one day. I love eating fresh pink grapefruit with a few sprinkles of cinnamon on top! The cinnamon balances out the acid and so adding a cinnamon and sugar rim with a dash of cinnamon in the drink works to balance the cocktail. My boyfriend added the brandied cherries which takes the place of the maraschinos that used to be added on top of the grapefruit when I was in college (where I started this breakfast tradition of mine!) And a little of the juice makes it look a little more like a sunrise, the way the sun colors the morning sky.
