The impulse behind this monthly feature, a guest-edited poetry congeries, isn’t altogether new. Indeed, I’ve long admired Ploughshares, a journal committed to this principle. An eclectic soul, I’m excited by journals that offer aesthetic surprises, nods to possibilities beyond a single editor’s vision. It is in this spirit that each month’s Featured Guest Editor, whose experience with poetry will have well-prepared them for the task at hand, will assemble a collection of one to three poems by approximately ten to fifteen poets. Featured Guest Editors will solicit all of the poetry for their congeries, groupings that will reflect their personal engagement with poetry. And so, a Poetry Congeries is offered as an ongoing dialogue between poets, editors, and especially readers, a gathering place of sorts. We welcome your feedback. - John Hoppenthaler
