Ken Robidoux, Editor-in-Chief: March 2019

Me 2017 Welcome to Issue IV, Volume X: March 2019 of Connotation Press: An Online Artifact.

“He is a racist. He is a conman. He is a cheat.” And instead of investigating these absolutely true claims by the creepy little man, all the Republican members of Congress could do was to waste more than four hours proving it takes one to know one. Thankfully, according to the dumb-ass-in-chief, we’re very nearly great again, soooo…

I swear if I stepped in a Trump I’d just throw out the shoes.

Enough enjoying backslapping a piece of scuzzy, elitist white trash when it’s down, let’s kick this pig and see what it’ll do.

Issue IV, Volume X brings us another outstanding offering from our Hoppenthaler’s Congeries column. After his preface, John delivers vital new poetry by Maurice Manning, Tyree Daye, Margaret Noodin, Carol Moldaw, and Paula Colangelo, and a translation of Canto XXIV by David Rigsbee. Great stuff here. Welcome to all the new poets!

Up next, our intrepid travel editor with no interest in taming his wanderlust, Mr. Nicholas Baker, returns from his time abroad with a review of he and Freddy’s recent trip to Chile. YES! Gawd, I love this column! Nick and Freddy’s travels through the country take them to Neruda’s home in Isla Negra, Quintay, Valparaiso, and Santiago. Wonderful to have you back, gentlemen!

Finally, our book review editor Julia Bouwsma brings us an extended review of Carolina Hospital’s new collection from Anhinga Press, Key West Nights & Other Aftershocks, and John Turi reviews a 2017 Trouseeau Gris, considered an orange wine, for his Drinker with a Writing Problem column.

Together they make for a wonderful way to close out this first half of Issue IV, which reminds me to remind you to come back on the 15th of the month for the release of our Poetry, Fiction, and Creative Nonfiction columns.

And hey, who knows what the future will bring for our embattled twit-in-charge. With any luck, maybe he'll finally stop lying long enough to make this country one step closer to great again by choking on a fistfull of his own huburus. 😉
